Philadelphia’s youth face significant challenges.  The latest statistics show that only about 50% are graduating from high school and that the after-school hours of 3pm – 6pm, when many take to the streets, are the most dangerous.  Although countless studies have established the link between arts participation and academic performance, our cash-strapped schools continue to struggle and many students have no access to arts training.  Philadelphia’s youth need a safe haven after school, artistic engagement opportunities, and a chance at an exciting career.  We work with partners to provide all three, and the improved graduation rates of long-term participants are just one measure of their success.
