Pieris launched in 2002 as a volunteer group (originally called Arts in Motion).  With the goal of fueling music's evolution, we presented concerts in the Kimmel Center, Club Fluid, and other venues, fusing classical with visuals, hip hop, and electronica.  Life as an independent non-profit began in 2004 and we soon expanded to offer education programs for youth.  In 2006, we hired our first full-time staff person, doubled our local and touring concerts, and began teaching advanced composition to our top students. 

In 2008 the founder took over as Executive and Artistic Director and began to develop our new strategic plan.
