During Fiscal Year 2008, we finally hired our Founder as Executive and Artistic Director and began to test our new production concept in small club venues.  Our education program grew to launch its first expansion studio in South Philadelphia as well, and we presented our unique evolutionary perspective at Peabody, among others.  We reached 2,500 people during this year.

Fiscal Year 2008 Program Highlights:

drop4-fx.jpg1) Performances featured classical virtuosi paired with video artists and electronic musicians in progressive and traditional venues.  FY 08 performances included outdoor video projections with audio simulcast via radio to hundreds of boats gathered in a Main harbor.  Club venue and concert events included 360-degree projections with live audio at Brooklyn's Eyewash as well as rock/classical fusion at the Trocadero in Philadelphia.  These innovative and immersive events attracted young and diverse audiences.

Total Attendance: 1,000 (550 paid; 450 free)

drop7-fx.jpg2) Education included three levels of computer composition for Philadelphia's youth.  About 1,000 participated in our "Level 1" introductory performances and about 1 in 10 graduated to our "Level 2" group lessons.  About 1 in 10 of our "L-2" students graduated again to our "L-3" private lessons.  This year for the first time, one of these "L-3" students was hired as an instructor.  We launched our first Expansion Studio in this student's South Philadlephia community, leveraging in-kind facilities provided by partners.

Total Served:

drop8-fx.jpg3) Advocacy projects included a speaking engagement on the evolution of music at the Peabody conservatory as well as national speaking engagements on emerging viral advocacy tactics.  Viral advocacy presentations included the National Arts Marketing Project Conference in Miami and another gathering of arts industry leaders in Washington D.C.  Additionally, we launched a previous version of this beta (test) site featuring emerging "Web 2.0" technologies including mission driven forums, podcasting, and blogs.
